Estate-grown at Bendigo, in the Cromwell Basin, the 2016 vintage (5*) was matured for 11 months in French oak casks (30 per cent new). Deep ruby, it is an attractively scented, powerful red with mouthfilling body and generous, ripe, plummy, spicy flavours. Savoury, with slightly earthy notes adding complexity and good tannin backbone, it’s full of personality and well worth cellaring; open 2019+.
