Akarua Central Otago Brut NV (2017)

The non-vintage wine (4*) I tasted in late 2017 is a 2:1 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, estate-grown at Bannockburn and disgorged after a minimum of 18 months on its yeast lees. Light lemon/green, with a fragrant, yeasty bouquet, it is vivacious and smooth, with citrusy, slightly appley and biscuity flavours, showing very good complexity, and a crisp, long, harmonious finish.
