Mount Brown Estates Grand Reserve North Canterbury Pinot Noir (2016)

The generous, well-rounded 2016 vintage (4*) was matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Deep ruby, with a slightly earthy bouquet, it is full-bodied, fresh and sweet-fruited, with strong cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing considerable complexity, and silky tannins. Already enjoyable, it should be in full stride from mid-2018 onwards.
