Who says you can’t make good Gewürztraminer in the north? Grown at Mangawhai, the 2015 vintage (4*) is a pale straw, faintly pink wine with a spicy, gingery bouquet. Mouthfilling, it is gently sweet (21 grams/litre of residual sugar), with strong, peachy, spicy, vaguely honeyed flavours, ripe and fresh, and a long, well-spiced finish.
