Framingham Marlborough Pinot Noir (2015)

This wine is ‘feminine’, says winemaker Andrew Hedley, meaning it is elegant, rather than powerful. The 2014 vintage (4*), matured for 10 months in French oak casks (20 per cent new), is ruby-hued, mouthfilling and savoury, with ripe plum, cherry and spice flavours, a subtle seasoning of oak, and gentle tannins. A very harmonious wine, showing good complexity, it’s already delicious. The 2015 vintage (4*) was grown on gravel and clay sites. A refined, supple wine, with ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, it shows excellent depth and complexity, with lots of drink-young appeal.
