Greystone Thomas Brothers’ Waipara Valley Pinot Noir (2013)

The 2013 vintage (5*), grown in the steep Brothers Block, was hand-picked at over 24 brix, fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured for 15 months in French oak barriques (70 per cent new), and bottled without fining or filtering. A highly seductive red, it is deep and youthful in colour, with a welcoming fragrance, mouthfilling body, and rich, very ripe plum and spice flavours, with a hint of licorice. Sweet-fruited and finely textured, with lovely harmony, it’s a drink-now or cellaring proposition.
