Gibbston Valley China Terrace Bendigo Central Otago Pinot Noir (2014)

Estate-grown in the China Terrace Vineyard, at Bendigo, the 2013 vintage (5*) was matured for 10 months in French oak casks (33 per cent new). From a high-altitude site (350 metres above sea level), it has deep, purple-flushed colour. Very youthful, vibrant and fruit-packed, it has deep cherry, plum and spice flavours, woven with fresh acidity, nutty notes adding complexity, and a supple, lasting finish. The 2014 vintage (4.5*) was matured in French oak casks (40 per cent new.) Boldly coloured, it is sturdy (14 per cent alcohol), vibrant and smooth, with fine-grained tannins, concentrated, ripe plum/spice flavours, and earthy, savoury notes adding complexity. Best drinking 2017+.
