Pronounced ‘Martar-O’, Chard Farm’s ‘signature’ red is grown at Lowburn and Parkburn, in the Cromwell Basin. Bright ruby, the 2013 vintage (4*) is savoury and supple, with vibrant, moderately concentrated cherry, plum and spice flavours, oak complexity, and a lingering finish. A refined rather than powerful wine, it’s still very youthful; open 2016+.
