Church Road McDonald Series Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Gris (2011)

The debut 2011 vintage (4*) is part of the new McDonald Series, which has replaced the limited edition Cuve Series. Grown in the company’s inland, elevated Matapiro Vineyard, it was matured for seven months on its yeast lees and handled entirely in stainless steel tanks. Pale lemon/green, with fresh, strong, ripely herbaceous fruit aromas, it is mouthfilling, with good intensity of lively, citrusy, limey flavours, a minerally streak and an appetisingly crisp, dry finish.
