Brancott Estate Letter Series 'B' Brancott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (2021)

This wine is promoted by Pernod Ricard NZ as 'our finest expression of Marlborough's most famous variety' – and lives up to its billing. 'Palate weight, concentration and longevity' are the goals. It has traditionally been grown in the company's sweeping Brancott Vineyard, on the south, slightly cooler side of the Wairau Valley, and a significant portion is fermented and lees-aged in large French oak vessels, to add 'some toast and spice as well as palate richness'. The 2021 vintage (4.5*) is a light lemon/green wine, fleshy and finely balanced, with generous, ripe, tropical fruit flavours to the fore, a herbaceous undercurrent, and a crisp, lingering finish.
