The Hunting Lodge, Central Otago Pinot Noir (2019)

The attractive 2019 vintage (4.5*) from this West Auckland-based producer is "a wine with broad shoulders yet soft hands." Grown at Bendigo and Bannockburn, it was hand-picked and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (30 per cent new). Ruby hued, it is a youthful red, fragrant, mouthfilling, savoury and supple, with vibrant, well-ripened cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing good complexity. Best drinking mid-2022+.
