Saving Grace Gruner Veltliner (2019)

Drinking well now, the characterful 2018 vintage (4.5*) was estate-grown and hand-picked in the Mound Vineyard, at Waipara, and fermented in stainless steel tanks and seasoned oak barrels. Bright, light yellow/green, it is fragrant and full-bodied, with strong, ripe, peachy, spicy flavours, showing a distinct touch of complexity, fresh acidity and a finely balanced, dry (3.5 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Also partly barrel-fermented, the 2019 vintage (4*) is full-bodied and fleshy, with very good depth of lively, peachy, spicy flavours, considerable complexity, fresh acidity and a dry (4.4 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Drink now or cellar. (From Waipara Hills).
