Named after pioneer winemaker Father Antoine Gavin, the very youthful 2019 vintage (5*) is a distinguished blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (74 per cent) and Merlot (26 per cent), matured for a year in French oak barriques (40 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is full-bodied, rich and silky-textured, with concentrated, ripe blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, a hint of herbs, excellent complexity and fine, supple tannins. Showing obvious potential for long-term cellaring, it should be at its best 2024+.
