Grown in the Waihopai Valley, the 2019 vintage (4.5*) was mostly handled in tanks; about 30 per cent of the blend was hand-picked and fermented with indigenous yeasts in old French oak barrels. A pale gold, fleshy wine, it has strong, ripe stone-fruit and spice flavours, showing very good complexity, balanced acidity, and a rich, dry (3 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Already very expressive, it should be drinking well now to 2022.
