Lansdowne Estate Masterton Wairarapa Pinot Gris (2018)

I tasted the 2014, 2015 and 2018 vintages of this northern Wairarapa wine in early 2021. Still drinking well, the 2014 vintage (4*) is a light gold/green, weighty wine with rich, peachy, vaguely honeyed flavours. My pick of the trio is the bright, light yellow/green 2015 vintage (5*). Highly fragrant, it has impressive intensity of stonefruit and spice flavours, bottle-aged complexity and a rich finish. Still developing, the 2018 vintage (4.5*) is mouthfilling, with concentrated citrus and stone-fruit flavours, fresh acidity, and a dry, lively finish. Best drinking 2022+.
