Elephant Hill Stone Hawke's Bay Cabernet Franc (2018)

A 'serious' but highly approachable red in its youth, the 2018 vintage (5*) was estate-grown in the Gimblett Gravels and matured in French oak barrels (45 per cent new). Deeply coloured and fragrant, it is mouthfilling, with highly concentrated, well-ripened blackcurrant, plum, spice and nut flavours, showing good complexity, and fine-grained tannins. A very age-worthy and harmonious wine, it should be at its best 2024+.
