Deutz Marlborough Cuvée Blanc de Blancs (2017)

New Zealand's most awarded bubbly on the show circuit. This Chardonnay-predominant blend is hand-harvested on the south side of the Wairau Valley, at Renwick Estate and in the Brancott Vineyard, and matured for up to three years on its yeast lees. It is typically a very classy wine with delicate, piercing, lemony, appley flavours, well-integrated yeastiness, and a slightly creamy finish. The 2017 vintage (5*) is bright, light lemon/green, with a citrusy, yeasty fragrance. Very crisp and lively, it has intense, lemony, complex flavours, showing notable vigour and length. Fine value.
