Estate-grown in the Sound of White Vineyard, in the upper Waihopai Valley, the classy 2020 vintage (5*) was hand-harvested from vines mostly 16 years old, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and matured in French oak barriques (30 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is finely scented and full-bodied, with concentrated, youthful, cherryish, plummy flavours, vibrant and supple, and savoury notes adding complexity. Graceful, finely poised and long, it should flourish with cellaring. Best drinking 2023+
