Revealing unusual complexity, the 2017 vintage (5*) was harvested from estate-grown, 25 year-old vines at Bannockburn. After 10 months of maturation in French oak casks (31 per cent new), the wines from four different clones of Pinot Noir were blended and then returned to barrels for a further eight months. Full ruby, with a hint of maturity, it is mouthfilling, rich, ripe and savoury, with highly concentrated cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, a hint of liquorice, and good tannin support. A distinctive wine, it's a drink now or cellaring proposition.
