Alpha Domus The Navigator (2016)

The full-bodied, supple 2016 vintage (4*) was estate-grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle, Hawke's Bay, and barrel-aged. Blended principally from Merlot (34 per cent) and Cabernet Sauvignon (31 per cent), with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc (19 per cent) and Malbec (16 per cent), it is full-coloured, with a fragrant, spicy bouquet. Drinking well now, it is fresh and vibrantly fruity, with berryish, plummy, spicy flavours, savoury notes adding complexity and a smooth finish. Best drinking 2022+.
