Sacred Hill Reserve Hawke's Bay Merlot/Cabernet (2019)

Grown in the Gimblett Gravels, the youthful 2019 vintage (4.5*) is Merlot-dominant (94 per cent), with splashes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Matured for eight months in French oak barrels (15 per cent new), it is fragrant, deeply coloured and mouthfilling, with concentrated, plummy, spicy flavours, well-integrated oak, savoury notes adding complexity and ripe, finely balanced tannins. Offering very good value, it should be at its best 2022+.
