Lawson's Dry Hills Reserve Marlborough Pinot Noir (2018)

The great-value 2017 vintage (5*) was grown at two sites in the Waihopai Valley and matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Retasted in mid-2020, it is deep ruby, very fragrant, mouthfilling and savoury, with concentrated, plummy, spicy flavours and the structure to mature well. Delicious now, it's also worth cellaring. The 2018 vintage (4*) was also grown at two Waihopai Valley sites and matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Bright ruby, it is fresh and youthful, with moderately rich, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing good complexity. Best drinking 2022+.
