Estate-grown and hand-harvested on the Karikari Peninsula, in the Far North, the 2016 vintage (3.5*) was matured for 29 months in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels (30 per cent new). Fullish and now fairly mature in colour, with a slightly rustic bouquet, it is mouthfilling and firm, with ripe, moderately concentrated, spicy, slightly earthy and nutty flavours. A powerful, gutsy red, it's ready to roll.
