Johner Estate Gladstone Pinot Noir (2017)

Estate-grown in the northern Wairarapa, matured for a year in French oak barrels (25 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the 2017 vintage (4*) is a ruby-hued, full-bodied red, showing good complexity. It is savoury, with generous, plummy, spicy flavours, seasoned with nutty oak, a hint of herbs, and a well-rounded finish. Best drinking 2021+.
