Hunter's Marlborough Pinot Noir (2019)

The powerful 2019 vintage (4.5*) is the best yet – by far. Hand-harvested at a hillside vineyard in the Omaka Valley, it was matured for a year in French oak barriques (15 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is mouthfilling, with concentrated, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, a hint of liquorice, and obvious potential for cellaring. Still very youthful, it should be at its best 2023+.
