Forager North Canterbury Pinot Noir (2018)

This single-vineyard red is grown 40 kilometres inland, at 210 metres above sea level, near Waiau. The 2018 vintage (4.5*) is ruby-hued, with a fragrant bouquet and subtle, savoury, complex, nutty flavours, very smooth and lingering. The 2017 vintage (5*) was hand-picked and matured for 15 months in seasoned French oak casks. Fragrant and silky-textured, it is deep ruby, with mouthfilling body, vibrant fruit flavours, lively acidity, and excellent depth. A highly refined, elegant red, it should be at its best 2022+.
