The powerful, weighty, youthful 2016 vintage (5*) is a blend of Cabernet Franc (34 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (32 per cent) and Merlot (26 per cent), with a splash of Malbec. Hand-harvested in the Gimblett Gravels (75 per cent) and the Bridge Pa Triangle (25 per cent), it was matured for 21 months in French oak casks (48 per cent new). Dark and purple-flushed, it is fragrant, with substantial body, concentrated blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, and firm tannin backbone. Set for a long life, it should be at its best 2023+.
