Craggy Range Te Kahu (2017)

Estate-grown in the Gimblett Gravels, the youthful 2017 vintage (4.5*) of this Hawke's Bay red is Merlot-based (66 per cent), with smaller portions of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and splashes of Petit Verdot and Malbec. Matured for 17 months in oak barriques (20 per cent new), it is full-coloured, fresh and mouthfilling, with generous, ripe blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, firm tannins, and the depth and structure to mature well. Best drinking 2022+.
