The 2016 vintage (5*) is a rich, savoury, smooth red, still unfolding. Merlot-based (92 per cent), with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon (8 per cent), it was grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle (mostly) and the Gimblett Gravels, and matured for 18 months in Hungarian and French oak barrels (28 per cent new). Deep and youthful in colour, it is fragrant and full-bodied, with dense, ripe plum, blackcurrant and spice flavours, finely integrated oak, and a very harmonious, lingering finish. Best drinking 2022+.
