Carrick Excelsior Central Otago Pinot Noir (2014)

Likely to be long-lived, the very classy 2014 vintage (5*) was harvested from mature, estate-grown vines at Bannockburn. A full-coloured, powerful but approachable wine, it was matured for 16 months in barrels (15 per cent new). It has substantial body, fresh, deep cherry, plum and spice flavours, nutty oak adding complexity, fine-grained tannins and a resounding finish. Best drinking 2021+.
