Black Estate Home North Canterbury Cabernet Franc (2018)

Certified organic, the 2018 vintage (4.5*) was estate-grown, hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and matured in a mix of aged oak barrels (18 per cent) and egg-shaped, Spanish clay vessels called tinaja (82 per cent). Fresh and full-bodied, it has very good density and vigour, with strong, youthful, berryish, spicy flavours, a hint of herbs, and refined tannins. Well worth cellaring, it should be at its best 2022+.
