Archangel Central Otago Pinot Noir (2016)

Estate-grown south of Wanaka, at the northern end of the Cromwell Basin, the 2016 vintage (4*) is a single-vineyard red, matured for a year in French oak casks (25 per cent new). Full, bright ruby, it is floral and sweet-fruited, with fine-grained tannins and very satisfying depth of plummy, spicy flavours. A supple, youthful red, it’s well worth cellaring to 2021+.
