Certified organic, the very youthful 2016 vintage (5*) was estate-grown in the northern Wairarapa, hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barriques (70 per cent new). Fragrant and full-coloured, it is mouthfilling, with rich, vibrant plum, cherry and spice flavours, fine-grained tannins and a lengthy finish. Still a baby, it’s a powerful, concentrated, structured red, well worth cellaring to 2020+.
