Theory & Practice Hawke’s Bay Merlot (2016)

The 2016 vintage (3.5*) is a blend of Merlot (85 per cent), Malbec (13 per cent) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2 per cent), hand-picked at two sites in the Bridge Pa Triangle, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for a year in French oak casks (20 per cent new). Full-coloured, it has a ripe, slightly raisiny bouquet, leading into a mouthfilling, sweet-fruited wine with a hint of liquorice and a smooth, easy- drinking appeal.
