Monowai Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc (2017)

Tasted in mid-2018, the 2016 vintage (3.5*) is probably at its peak. Estate-grown at Crownthorpe, it is pale lemon/green, with fresh, strong, herbaceous aromas. A racy, medium-bodied wine, with some riper, tropical-fruit notes, it has very good vibrancy and depth, with a crisp finish. The 2017 vintage (3*) is fresh and lively, in a medium-bodied style with ripely herbaceous flavours, hints of passionfruit and lime, and good depth. Fine value.
