Mills Reef’s flagship Chardonnay is consistently rewarding. Retasted in mid 2018, the 2015 vintage (5*) is highly impressive. Pale straw, it was fermented and matured for 10 months in French oak hogsheads (46 per cent new). Fragrant and weighty, it is sweet-fruited, with concentrated, vibrant grapefruit and stone-fruit flavours, buttery and toasty notes adding complexity, and a long, very harmonious finish. Delicious now, it should be at its best 2019+.
