Luna Blue Rock Martinborough Syrah (2016)

The classy 2016 vintage (4.5*) is from vines planted in 1997 on a ‘precipitous, north-facing slope’, south of Martinborough. Matured for a year in French oak casks (30 per cent new), it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Full and purple-flushed in colour, it is mouthfilling, vibrantly fruity and supple, with intense, plummy flavours, woven with fresh acidity. A refined, distinctly cool-climate style, it is finely textured, and likely to be long-lived.
