Greystone Waipara Valley Chardonnay (2016)

The powerful 2016 vintage (4.5*), picked at 24.1 brix, was fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques (25 per cent new), oak-aged for 11 months, and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Bright, light lemon/green, it is sturdy (14.5 per cent alcohol), with a fragrant, buttery bouquet. Showing impressive complexity, it has very generous, peachy, citrusy flavours, in a weighty, ‘forward’ style, already drinking well.
