Villa Maria Cellar Selection Gisborne Chardonnay (2016)

The bargain-priced 2016 vintage (4*) was fermented and matured for nine months in French and Hungarian oak barriques (35 per cent new). Already drinking well, it’s a full-bodied, fresh, harmonious wine with well-ripened stone-fruit flavours, gentle biscuity, toasty notes adding complexity, finely poised acidity and a dry, slightly buttery finish.
