Valli Bannockburn Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir (2016)

Showing obvious potential, the 2015 vintage (5*) is a sturdy, concentrated red, matured for a year in French oak casks (30 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby, it is generous and savoury, with fine-grained tannins, layers of ripe, plummy, spicy, nutty flavours, and impressive complexity and depth. The very graceful 2016 vintage (5*) is powerful but refined, with mouthfilling body, generous, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, finely integrated oak, and a finely balanced, long finish. Best drinking 2020+.
