Estate-grown in the lower Waihopai Valley, the 2011 vintage (5*), released in mid-2017, was hand-picked, with no botrytis influence, and barrel-fermented. Pale lemon/green, it has an inviting scented, minerally bouquet. Light and lovely, it is low in alcohol (8.6 per cent), with searching, citrusy, appley flavours, sweet (72 grams/litre of residual sugar) and tangy, poised and persistent. Acquiring excellent bottle-aged complexity, with a strong sense of depth, delicacy and drive, it should be long-lived; drink now or cellar.
