Margrain Old Vine Martinborough Chenin Blanc (2016)

The striking 2016 vintage (5*) is based solely on the estate’s original, 35-year-old vines, planted by Stan Chifney. Handled entirely in tanks, it’s a pale lemon/green, highly scented wine, medium-bodied, with gentle sweetness (16 grams/litre of residual sugar), appetising acidity, and rich, vibrant, lemony, appley flavours, showing lovely purity, delicacy and intensity. Already delicious, it should flourish in the bottle for many years.
