Certified organic, the lively 2016 vintage (4*) was estate-grown in the lower Awatere Valley, and 7 per cent of the blend was aged for six months in old French oak barrels. The bouquet is fresh and ripely aromatic; the palate is mouthfilling, with good intensity of vibrant tropical-fruit and green-capsicum flavours, slightly leesy notes adding complexity, and a finely balanced, smooth (5 grams/litre of residual sugar), lingering finish. (Retasted in mid-2017, the 2013 vintage (4*) was still very lively, with strong, ripely herbaceous flavours and toasty, bottle-aged notes adding interest.)
