Greywacke Marlborough Pinot Gris (2015)

Grown in the Brancott Valley (principally) and at Rapaura, the 2015 vintage (5*) was mostly (80 per cent) fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels and wood-matured for seven months; 20 per cent of the blend was handled with cultured yeasts in tanks. A lovely young wine, showing greater complexity than most Pinot Gris, it is fleshy and vibrantly fruity, with mouthfilling body and deep, ripe peach/pear flavours, slightly sweet (10 grams/litre of residual sugar) and well-rounded. A rich, subtle, finely poised wine, it should be at its best 2018+.
