Ransom Mahurangi (2011)

The 2011 vintage (3.5*), estate-grown north of Auckland, was blended mostly from Syrah (36 per cent) and Malbec (30 per cent), with smaller portions of Cabernet Franc, Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon, and barrel-aged for over a year. Full-coloured, it is mouthfilling and fleshy, with good depth of berry, herb and spice flavours, showing considerable complexity, and fine-grained tannins. It’s drinking well now.
