Pask Declaration Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec (2015)

This Gimblett Gravels blend is matured for 18 months in French and Hungarian oak casks (90 per cent new in 2010). Retasted in 2015, the 2010 vintage (4*) has full, moderately youthful colour. Fragrant, mouthfilling and supple, with blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours showing good but not great concentration, it’s drinking well now. The 2013 vintage (4.5*) has deep, bright colour. Still very youthful, it is fragrant, with concentrated, ripe blackcurrant, herb, plum and spice flavours, good tannin backbone, and excellent harmony. Best drinking 2018+.
