Felton Road Bannockburn Central Otago Riesling (2015)

Estate-grown on mature vines, this is a gently sweet style with deep flavours woven with fresh acidity. It offers more drink-young appeal than its Dry Riesling stablemate, but invites long-term cellaring. Tank-fermented with indigenous yeasts, it is bottled with up to 60 grams per litre of residual sugar. The 2014 vintage (5*), grown in The Elms Vineyard, is light-bodied (9 per cent alcohol), with plentiful sweetness (59 grams/litre of residual sugar). Lemon-scented, it’s a lovely wine – vibrantly fruity, with rich citrus-fruit, apple and spice flavours, ripe peachy notes, appetising acidity and notable freshness, delicacy and intensity. The 2015 vintage (5*) is also intense and finely poised, with a lovely spread of vibrant peach, lemon, apple and spice flavours. A generous, tightly structured wine, with a long finish, it’s already delicious; drink now onwards.
