Cuvée No. 1 Marlborough Méthode Traditionnelle (2014)

This is a non-vintage ‘blanc de blancs’, based entirely on Marlborough Chardonnay. Made by Daniel Le Brun (in his family company) and matured for two years on its yeast lees, it is typically a stylish wine, fresh-scented, with tight-knit, delicate flavours, citrusy, yeasty and biscuity, and a crisp, dryish finish. The sample I tasted in 2014 (4.5*) was pale straw, with a yeasty bouquet, strong, crisp, citrusy flavours, bready notes adding complexity and impressive intensity, vigour and length.
