Grown at the Keltern Vineyard, a warm, inland site east of Maraekakaho, this classy wine is hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged in French oak barriques (50 per cent new in 2012). The 2012 (4*) is a fragrant wine with strong, citrusy, slightly biscuity flavours, showing excellent balance of fruit and oak, good complexity, lively acidity and a tight, lingering finish. The 2013 vintage (5*) is an elegant, tightly structured wine, very fresh, crisp and dry, with vibrant stone-fruit flavours, showing excellent concentration and delicacy, and flinty, mealy notes adding complexity. Refined and minerally, it has obvious cellaring potential.
