Estate-grown in South Auckland, this wine is partly fermented with indigenous yeasts in seasoned French oak barriques; the rest is handled in tanks. The 2013 vintage (5*), 20 per cent barrel-fermented, is highly impressive. Weighty and rich, it is perfumed and full-bodied, with notably concentrated stone-fruit and spice flavours, finely balanced acidity and a tight, lasting finish. Well worth cellaring. The 2014 (tasted prior to bottling, and so not rated) is mouthfilling, with generous, ripe peach, pear and spice flavours, showing good intensity.
